The University of Notre Dame seeks to be one of the world’s preeminent research universities with a distinctive Catholic character. The Office of the Provost is led by the University’s chief academic officer responsible for this mission’s stewardship. The Provost oversees the academic core of the University, serving as the principal representative of the academy to both internal and external constituencies, and leading strategic educational initiatives on behalf of the University. Working with a leadership team including associate provosts, the Vice President for Research, the Associate Vice President for Undergraduate Enrollment, the deans, and other academic leaders, he seeks to cultivate a learning community that challenges and engages students, inspires leading research and scholarship, and appreciates all intellectual inquiry as a pursuit of truth.
Reporting to the Vice President and Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs, the inaugural Faculty Awards and Recognition Program Director (FAR Program Director) will develop a comprehensive and publicly visible strategy to position Notre Dame faculty for highly prestigious awards. The FAR Program Director will identify a subset of awards across the arts and humanities, life sciences, physical sciences, engineering, and social sciences to pursue, based on the current strengths of the faculty. In concert with chairpersons, deans, associate deans, the Vice President for Research, and the Provost, the FAR Program Director will be responsible for the entire lifecycle of the faculty award program from pipeline development to submission.
The FAR Program Director will:

· Utilize analytics to identify competitive prospects
· Analyze, track, and develop award winner profiles and leverage awardee experiences to provide insight
