Job Description


The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow for a joint appointment within the Microchemistry, Proteomics & Lipidomics Department (MPL) and Large Molecule Drug Discovery (LMDD). The successful candidate will develop a mass spectrometry based platform for de novo sequencing of antibodies from complex matrices, and then apply workflows to disease related and engineering focused explorations. MPL employs Orbitrap based mass spectrometers with multiple fragmentation capabilities to enable full bottom up and top down sequencing, as well as specialized instruments for native MS. The LMDD group comprises Antibody Engineering and Protein Chemistry with capabilities to generate and characterize antibodies identified by this study. 

Who you are:

Requirements:  

  • A PhD in Chemistry, Cell Biology, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Cancer Immunology, or a related discipline

  • One or more first author research publication (or in press) in a high impact journal

  • Experience with top down mass spectrometry, native mass spectrometry and other structural enabling technologies

  • Understanding of antibody sequence repertoires and hands-on experience engineering and optimizing the production of antibodies for functional and/or validation studies

  • Advanced Computational skills including basic programming for mass-spectrometry and sequence data analyses.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $64,800 and $120,300. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
