Volunteer Coordinator
Full Time Salaried Exempt

Each year, thousands of local volunteers from all walks of life serve with Habitat, and the Volunteer Coordinator connects each of them with opportunities to build brighter futures with families who need decent, affordable housing. The Volunteer Coordinator will join a driven, passionate team to help educate, engage, and empower people who live and serve throughout East Central Ohio.
This position reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in volunteer coordination with a nonprofit organization
Qualifications and Requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Experience in public speaking and comfortable speaking in front of large groups
- Flexible schedule to accommodate occasional meetings outside business hours
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop strategies to recruit, engage, educate, and retain volunteers
- Take appropriate action on all volunteer inquiries
- Coordinate with construction staff regularly to schedule worksite volunteers
- Coordinate volunteer participation by clearly communicating expectations, instructions, registrations, liabilities, and skills or materials required
- Ensure volunteer policies and procedures are legal, safe, comprehensive, and well-implemented
- Maintain an organized database of volunteers and activities
- Create job descriptions for various volunteer opportunities
- Coordinate youth volunteer programs with age-appropriate activities
- Ensure the overall volunteer schedule is up-to-date and communicated properly
- Conduct regular volunteer orientation for new volunteers
- Meet and greet volunteers at job sites and/or events
- Conduct regular volunteer satisfaction surveys and compile results
- Coordinate community service volunteers from local jurisdictions
- Oversee events including home dedications, volunteer appreciation, golf outings, marathons, etc.
- Maintain list of food donors and supply inventory for event planning
- Other duties as assigned
Physical Demands: The Volunteer Coordinator must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. and have the ability to spend the majority of the day moving. Work may require bending, kneeling, navigating steps, and reaching in awkward and tiring positions.
