Job Summary

Engineering Lab Instructor will work in the lab and assist with the lab preparations and/or tutor students.

Required Qualifications

Associate’s degree in a related field
Practical workshop/lab skills
Demonstrated commitment to safety
Knowledge of instruments and devices used within the lab: CNC machines, 3-D printers, turning machines, pneumatic and hydraulic devices
Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
Experience working at a community college
Proficient use of CAD and/or CAM software (Inventor, Inventor CAM, Fusion 360)
Familiarity with G-CODE
Industrial experience as an Engineer
Membership in professional organizations

Essential Functions

Manage and organize Concho Engineering and Machine Lab
Support Midland College and partner institution students and faculty within the lab
Work closely with students in lab setting
- Instruct students in proper equipment usage
- Ensure safe usage of equipment
- Assist students with projects and lab assignments
Work with University partners to assist coordination of co-enrollment programs
- Texas A&M/Concho Engineering Academy
- UTPB Engineering
Work across disciplines to ensure student access
- Engineering, Energy Technology, Welding, HVAC, CADD
Oversee budget and equipment
Develop and implement safety protocols
- Build, maintain, and administer equipment safety training modules
Monitor operational condition of equipment
- Maintain schedule of preventative maintenance
- Work with equipment vendors
- Develop and implement equipment replacement plan
Manage lab schedule and student usage
- Work scheduled hours on nights and weekends as needed
Clean lab as needed
Other job duties as assigned

Physical Demands

Frequently moves equipment or paperwork weighing up to 25 pounds
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time
Use of manual dexterity
Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation
The person in this position frequently communicates with students; must be able to exchange accurate information
The person in this position needs to occasionally move from office to classroom
Classroom, lab, and office setting

Security Sensitivity

All Midland College positions are security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code §51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information. An employment offer is contingent on completion of a satisfactory criminal background investigation.

Min Salary

$52,653 per year

Max Salary

$57,396 per year

Pay Statement

Salary is commensurate with educational qualifications and experience.
