Community Food Bank of New Jersey is the state’s largest food bank. We provide food for 15 out of 21 New Jersey counties. Distributing over 85 million meals last year, maintaining pandemic service levels. Our mission is to fight hunger and poverty in New Jersey by assisting those in need and seeking long term solutions. Hunger exists in every community from the poorest to the most affluent.

The Community FoodBank of New Jersey is looking for a Resource Access Coordinator to join our Resource Access team. You will be responsible for providing direct service outreach on public benefits to low-income families and individuals statewide position, serving across 11 counties as needed. Specifically, identifying, educating, and connecting low-income families and individuals to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and other public benefits, such as the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and VITA program, that will reduce their risk of food insecurity. The position is predominantly field-based with some home-based and virtual work. This role will report directly to the Resource Access Manager..

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Participating in the planning and implementation of program efforts supporting connections to resources
  • Coordinating with CFBNJ’s Programs and agency relations teams to ensure integration of programs and services throughout CFBNJ’s network
  • Assisting with recruiting and training of volunteers
  • Providing agency-based support and individual guidance for understanding SNAP program benefits, facilitating application completion
  • Scheduling and conducting in-field visits to community organizations serving low-income individuals three-four days per week to educate, pre-screening and enrolling eligible people
  • Tracking site statistics and client interaction,
  • Maintaining knowledge and expertise in eligibility, enrollment, and program specifications of the SNAP program to provide financial literacy resources and training.
  • Conducting agency workshops on the importance of client education and participation
  • Educating the public, state, and federal policy makers about the persistent problems of hunger and poverty to encourage them to support more public and private investments in social programs.
  • Cultivating partnerships with non-profits and governmental organizations and representing CFBNJ at events and meetings as requested.

Position Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree plus at least two years of experience providing direct service to individuals and families.
  • Experience with public benefit programs and their respective application processes is preferred.
  • Must possess personal vehicle and valid NJ driver’s license
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, project management experience, strong organizational abilities, and a high degree of professionalism.
  • Experience building community partnerships, and bilingual Spanish preferred.
  • Must be highly proficient in O365 applications, comfortable providing virtual presentations, and knowledge of data entry and tracking
