Full Job Description

Summary: The Director of Individual Giving & Events is responsible for meeting or exceeding revenue goals by executing the Community Engagement team’s annual fundraising goals, including planning, oversight and execution of annual fundraising events, volunteer engagement and management of committees, Corporate and Individual giving efforts, budget/forecasting, and data analysis to drive strategy and support of Department Leadership.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attains and exceeds fundraising goals, as established by Ivymount Leadership.
  • Plans and executes both the organization’s annual and bi-annual fundraising and community-building events, including management and cultivation of volunteers, donors and sponsors relationships.
  • Uses interpersonal skills to create and build relationships with volunteers and donors through primarily face to face interactions, to recruit new partners and grow existing relationships. Involves interaction with high value volunteers including board members and high-level executives.
  • Uses fundraising knowledge to provide support, motivation, direction, and resources for fundraising initiatives to volunteers and donors through various communication channels, including personal visits, written correspondence, and electronic communication.
  • Updates, manages and maintains fundraising data via Raiser’s Edge and iWave platforms.
  • Monitors key metrics to forecast and evaluate performance, ensuring the department meets/exceeds annual fundraising goals.
  • Collaborates with Community Engagement Team, including Communications and Marketing team, in the planning of all fundraising and community-building events.
  • Provides supervision to Events Coordinator.
  • Represents and supports the marketing of Ivymount’s programs with confidence, clarity, and a compelling presentation of programmatic goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5 years progressive fundraising experience
  • Thorough understanding of individual, foundation and corporate funding
  • Experience planning and executing a range of fundraising and community-building events
  • Ability to effectively supervise a team in order to execute a common goal
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to effectively utilize database systems within a data-driven and evidence-based organization, Raiser’s Edge experience a plus
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex messages to a diverse constituency
  • Polished, professional personal presentation with superior interpersonal skills
  • Deep-seated respect for the dignity and potential of all students in a special education environment
  • Impeccable confidentiality in dealing with records of students and their families.
  • Prior experience in planning and executing large-scale fundraising events preferred
  • Knowledge of government funding, including local, state and federal preferred
  • Fundraising/development experience in a nonprofit organization or educational institution prefered
