Job Details | POST-DOC GRANT RESEARCH ASSISTANT Coastal Carolina University is accepting applications for the following position: Post-Doc Grant Research Assistant in Marine Science. A post-doctoral fellow position in the field of hydrologic modeling is available immediately at Coastal Carolina University. The project for which this fellow is being recruited aims to use coupled riverine-coastal models to improve hydrological forecasting in coastal regions. The responsibilities include developing and testing riverine-coastal coupled models and using them to simulate coastal compound hydrological processes, verifying and analyzing model results of total water quantity and quality, and enhancing model’s hydrologic routing algorithm and forecasting abilities. The project is supported by NOAA’s Cooperative Institute for Research to Operational Hydrology (CIROH). The initial one-year term may be renewed based on performance. Experience and qualifications are used to determine compensation. Duties include, but are not limited to: developing and testing riverine-coastal coupled models and using them to simulate coastal compound hydrological processes; verifying and analyzing model results of total water quantity and quality; Enhancing model’s hydrologic routing algorithm and forecasting abilities; and performs other duties as assigned. Requirements: A Ph.D. in hydrology, atmospheric science, oceanography, or a related field is required. Excellent writing and oral communication skills are required for the candidate to disseminate research findings including publishing in peer reviewed journals and making presentations at scientific conferences and workshops. Previous experience in numerical hydrologic or hydrodynamic modeling for coastal environments is preferred.
