Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, in the College of Engineering and Computing, welcomes applications from outstanding scholars who contribute to advances, or expands the boundaries of Intelligent and Sustainable Infrastructure. The position Postdoctoral Scholar (BF2) is part an inaugural cohort of the University’s Bridge to Faculty Program that enables Scholars to deepen their research expertise, expand their scholarly profiles, undertake academic work in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department, and strengthen the College’s and University’s research community through their diverse perspectives. The Bridge to Faculty scholar in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering will join eleven other scholars from across the university who will form a dynamic and supportive community of scholars.
The Postdoctoral Scholar (BF2) will: (1) design and conduct physical or numerical experiments. Analyze and summarize the results of these experiments. Engages in scholarly activities, and meets regularly with mentors to develop a robust and innovative research program; (2) participate in the preparation of research proposals; (3) prepare and submit manuscripts, prepare presentations, and communicate effectively in local, national, or international venues with limited supervision from mentors; (4) develop mentoring skills and apply these skills to the supervision of graduate and undergraduate research assistants; and (5) participate in Bridge to Faculty and other professional development activities and outreach. Establish research collaboration within the College and within the University as appropriate
Minimum Qualifications
Must have PhD in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a closely related field by the time of their appointment from an accredited institution.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Expertise in one or more of the following areas: environmental, geotechnical, railway, structural, transportation, and water resources engineering.
