Organizational Unit Overview
The Office of Research, Economic Development and Engagement (REDE) is responsible for research policy and integrity, research administration and sponsored project contract negotiations across ECU and leads economic and community engagement initiatives including partnerships with public sector agencies, industry, military, and other organizations in pursuit of scholarly activities, economic development, and community engagement. The Office directs new intellectual enterprises, including technology transfer. REDE is responsible for the following units under its umbrella: Office of Engaged Research, Office of Continuing and Professional Education, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, Office of Human Subjects Protections, Office of Licensing and Commercialization, Office of National Security and Industry Initiatives, Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, Office of Regional Development, Office of Research Administration, Office of Research Development, Office of Research Integrity and Compliance, Office of Undergraduate Research, and the Small Business and Technology Development Center.
Job Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to provide technical support to Research, Economic Development and Engagement (REDE) by providing desktop support, creating and updating research dashboards and websites, supporting new modules and systems and providing backup support to the existing electronic systems managed by the REDE Data Team. Additionally, this position will assist in training and help inquiries associated with the electronic systems managed by the REDE Data Team. Duties include but are not limited to:
· Serve as the primary contact for REDE desktop support help tickets, including but not limited to: reimaging computers, installing software, and troubleshooting errors.
· Serve as the primary contact and administrator for the Effort Reporting System (ERS), by providing help desk support, being the primary liaison with vendor (Maximus), implementing system changes and updates.
· Provide support to the existing human research electronic system, ePIRATE (Huron), by answering help desk tickets and assisting with major system changes and updates.
· Manage and update existing public dashboards and ORA websites.
· Provide data analytical backup support by creating ad hoc reports using SQL, Microsoft Visual Studio, Power BI, SQL Developer, TOAD or other appropriate tools.
· Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Experience
Associate’s degree in Computer Information Technology, Computer Technology Integration, Networking Technology, or related area and one year of experience in the information technology field related to the position’s role; or Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year experience in the information technology field related to the position’s role; or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, math or engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Journey level requires an additional one year of experience. Advanced level requires an additional two years of experience.
License or Certification required by statute or regulation

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related fields.
· 2 years of experience in desktop support with different operating systems including Windows and Mac OS
· Previous experience in system administration, server and network administration, and front-end web support (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
· Strong customer service and communication skills
