Professional Advisor - Onondaga Community College

Job Description:
The Professional Advisor is a position within the assigned School that provides services to students in professional and academic advising of incoming and current students. Through individual meetings, advisors assist students in creating an educational pathway that may lead to transfer for continued education, or preparation for entering the workforce.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist students in creating an academic plan that meets their professional goals.
Guide students in appropriate course selection based on student goals, abilities, and curriculum requirements.
Resolve academic graduation issues during advising and prior to graduation.
Provide advice as necessary, using up-to-date career development materials such as Career Coach so that students make informed career choices.
Work with students in developing their transfer plans and future academic goals as they pertain to their course of study and career intentions.
Assist current students to connect with resources on campus to provide support.
Consult with faculty to align efforts and assess progress in all courses in which these students are enrolled.
Provide assistance to students and faculty to problem solve issues that arise related to progress towards academic goals.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
Experiencing working in a college setting as an advisor, student mentor, or in a student engagement position.
Bilingual in Spanish or another language preferred.

Salary up to $55,000 depending on credentials and experience.
