Job Description

Lanier Technical College – Jackson campus; Commerce, GA, is conducting a search for a part-time, non-benefits eligible, non-exempt position. NOTE: A background check is part of the selection process. POSITION: PART TIME CUSTODIAN – JACKSON CAMPUS; Commerce, GA

REPORTS TO: CUSTODIAL SUPERVISOR

WAGE RATE: $12 per hour; up to 29 hours per week
 
WORKWEEK SCHEDULE:  Monday - Friday; afternoon hours

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Skill in understanding and following written and oral instructions;
• Ability to complete assigned tasks in a thorough and timely manner;
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment, including vacuum and high speed buffing machine, in a safe and effective manner;
• Ability to perform the physical components of the position, with our without reasonable accommodation.

COMPETENCIES:
• Ability and skill to operate computer and job-related software programs;
• Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (in addition to minimum qualifications and competencies)

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals;
  • Previous cleaning experience in an industrial/public sector environment;
  • Skill in operating specialized cleaning equipment (i.e. carpet shampoo machine, etc.) and various hand tools

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for all aspects of general cleaning and general maintenance for our Jackson county campus.  Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Complete cleaning of assigned area, to include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning bathrooms, move tables and chairs; etc. Perform other work-related duties as assigned by Supervisor. Work is performed primarily indoors and exposed to dust, dirt, grease, irritating chemicals, and cleaning machinery. Work requires sitting, standing, walking, stooping, bending, crouching, lifting light and heavy objects, and using tools and equipment and require dexterity. Work at the Barrow campus may be required on occasion.
