Job Description

Belmont Abbey College invites applications for a tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor of Accounting position to begin August 1, 2023.

Job Responsibilities

This is a full-time undergraduate tenure track teaching position with a 4/4 teaching load. Assigned courses may include: Accounting Information Systems, Data Analytics for Accountants, Tax, Cost and Advanced Accounting. Position responsibilities include advising, service to the department, College, and community, scholarly development, and contributing positively to the College’s mission.

Courses are taught at various times, both day and evening, in a variety of modalities. On-campus teaching is required of this position.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate in Accounting or closely-related field is desirable. Online course development and instruction utilizing Quality Matters standards is also desirable.

Minimum Qualifications

  • CPA with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in public accounting OR Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 hours of accounting and significant industry experience in accounting with related professional certification (CIA, CISA, CFE, CMA).
  • Five years of higher education teaching experience supported by evidence of teaching excellence.
  • Commitment to student-centered instruction incorporating high-impact practices.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

The successful candidate will be a talented and dedicated academic deeply and enthusiastically committed to the Catholic mission of Belmont Abbey College. Preference will be given to those candidates who can demonstrate 1) a record of excellence in undergraduate teaching and a sense of teaching as a vocation; 2) a philosophy of teaching that supports the approach to education expressed in St. John Paul II’s Ex Corde Ecclesiae; and 3) a strong desire to teach at a liberal arts institution where the academic program is “guided by the Catholic intellectual tradition and the Benedictine spirit of prayer and learning.”
