Job Description


Since opening its doors in 1965, Tacoma Community College has provided a high-quality, affordable education to more than 500,000 people. Serving Tacoma, Gig Harbor, the Key Peninsula, online students and the women’s prisons, TCC educates about 11,000 students annually. Many TCC students are the first in their families to attend college, 58 percent receive financial aid, 13 percent have children, 42 percent are students of color, and 48 percent work while attending school. TCC has two campuses, the main campus in Tacoma and another in Gig Harbor.  Situated northwest of Tacoma across the Narrows Bridge, the Gig Harbor campus offers credit and non-credit courses.

Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Associate Dean of Nursing, this full-time position is responsible for managing all aspects of the Nursing data functions. It independently develops and implements systems and processes that effectively monitor and summarize nursing program data to provide evidence of adherence to state and national nursing program accreditation requirements. It ensures that student coding is accurate; accreditation, grants, and other tracking requirements are met; and supports other administrative functions. 

 

Essential Functions

  • Maintain, update and create systematic evaluation plans for healthcare programs using Microsoft Office Suite software.  
  • Maintain, update and create better methods of data collection, and data summary for healthcare programs systematic evaluation plans as needed.
  • Maintain, update and create accurate databases, dashboards, surveys, charts, diagrams, and other data management and data summaries for reporting and recording purposes.
  • Synthesize large volumes of data for concise reporting.
  • Support various committees, advisory boards, meetings, faculty, and administrative employees by completing data inquiry requests.
  • Competently use critical data analysis skills when assessing data for accuracy, when summarizing data, cleaning data, reporting data, monitoring data and in all other  data-related tasks.  
  • Review programmatic procedures related to data management and data collection.  
  • Review data summaries and data collection methods for various equity, diversity and inclusionary issues, to insure alignment with Tacoma Community College values and mission statement (i.e., survey questions, data summary titles, etc.).
  • Suggest, present and implement recommendations for  how data is collected and summarized as needed.
  • Ability and openness to learn new software to meet programmatic data needs (i.e., OnBase, OMNI CMS, Microsoft Office Suite, Power BI, ctclink, slate, embark, watermark and other data management tools, data reporting tools and file management tools).
  • Create systems of organization to maintain and organize accurate data that creates better workflows/ administrative time commitments for faculty and administration.   
  • Ability to be a data management tool and reporting tool subject matter expert, on the data management and reporting tools used in this position.
  • Ability to provide training, as needed, to faculty and administration on new processes, data collection, data summary and data reporting changes, updates and implementations.
  • Ability to work on a team of faculty and administrative support employees to meet data management and reporting needs for healthcare programs.
  • Ability to communicate across programs, departments, divisions, community organizations, and management levels to report, implement, and maintain data-related tasks for healthcare programs.
  • Ability to step into other rolls and tasks as needed by management and co-workers to create a team-orientated atmosphere that places students first.
  • Must have a growth mindset that prioritizes equity, diversity and inclusion when completing job duties, interacting with co-workers, interacting with management, and interacting with students.   

Additional Job Duties

  • Provide confidential and complex support for Associate Dean of Nursing
  • Provide occasional administrative assistance for faculty
  • Create, disseminate, and summarize data from surveys used to evaluate and strengthen the nursing program; ensure survey questions measure data required.
  • Oversee the acquisition and payment of quarterly online cohort testing packages.
  • Support and manage ongoing full and part time faculty and program staff hiring to include creating requisitions, supporting hiring committees and verification of application paperwork.
  • Assist with other duties/special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent education/experience 
  • Higher education or applicable work experience  
  • Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet, and database software skills (Microsoft Office preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with students and diverse populations 
  • Experience with PeopleSoft applications or other data systems

Terms of Employment
 
This is a full-time classified position scheduled to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  The salary range is $3,480 to $4,425 per month.  Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet the needs of the division. Tacoma Community College offers a generous benefits package to include: Life, health, dental, and long-term disability insurance, state retirement, vacation leave, sick leave, and holiday pay.  A collective bargaining agreement exists and membership in the Washington Federation of State Employees or payment of a service fee is available anytime upon employment. The layoff unit for this position is “All Other WFSE Classified”. Degrees must be from accredited colleges or universities recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and verified by National Student Clearinghouse.  International degrees will be verified for U.S. equivalency.
