DEPARTMENT: COMMUNICATION AND MARKETING

SALARY RANGE: $85,000 - $105,000

FLSA: EXEMPT


 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Chief of Staff

SCHEDULE DETAILS: Full-time/12 month position/PSRS


 

Position Summary

The Chief Marketing and Communications Officer is responsible for all marketing and public relations efforts of the college, including media relations and website development, in order to attract and recruit students and industry partners, as well as highlight college accomplishment in an attempt to elevate the college’s reputation in the community.


 

Essential Job Duties

  • Develop, oversee, and implement key strategic communications that build the college’s goodwill in the community and attract and recruit students and industry partners.
  • Oversee the Web Services, Media Relations, and Creative Services teams.
  • Manage college announcements, website content, social media, long-term strategic communication plans, crisis response, and media relations.
  • Assist the Media Relations department with finding and promoting news stories that reach key stakeholders and generate more earned media and raise the profile of the College and produce high-level communications and talking points for administration.
  • Develop strong messaging for key topics, write communications plans and direct the creative team in developing college publications.
  • Collaborate campus-wide with internal stakeholders to develop messages that best communicate the college’s brand and strategic initiatives.
  • Strategize, develop, and direct an annual data-driven marketing plan that aligns with OTC’s strategic plan, including digital marketing, print, and broadcast to recruit new students.
  • In collaboration with the student affairs teams, strategize an annual social media plan that aligns with the college’s strategic initiatives.
  • Act as resource member for Cabinet when necessary.
  • Oversee the preparation and publication of the college’s Annual Report and all other publications.
  • Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
  • Comply with college policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including attending college functions, serving on committees and attending community events.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, advertising, marketing, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Two years of leadership experience.
  • Five years of experience in marketing, public relations, or communications.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).

 

Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Master’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, marketing, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Experience working within a collegiate setting.

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. Requires extended periods of time viewing computer monitor or standing; may require adjustment of schedule to include some evening and/or weekends; may encounter occasional exposure to inclement weather during travel.

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard.
