The Department of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for a Post-doctoral Associate to work on the UHealth Campus. The Post-Doctoral Associate will be a critical member of a major scientific effort for an NIH-funded project. The work involves both in vitro assays and in vivo experiments that will support the development of novel therapeutics for kidney disease.
Conduct high content screening assays
Do in vivo experiments to test the efficacy of novel compounds, cDNAs or shRNAs.
Do routine molecular biology (cloning, PCR, RT-PCR, prepare viral vectors) to support the in vitro and in vivo experiments
Perform immunochemical staining of tissue sections, and both florescent and confocal microscopy.
Maintain laboratory areas; order lab supplies, participate in weekly lab meetings, including presenting results and methods to group members; plan weekly work schedules. Keep detailed laboratory notebooks and maintain documents relating to standard-operating procedures and vectors. Prepare first drafts of manuscripts.
Occasionally will assist in training other Post Docs, graduate students, undergraduates, and scholars.

MD or Ph.D. in relevant field

Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.
Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
Ability to carry out complex tasks with relative independence, while also being able to integrate into a group with strong team-based orientation
