Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Director of Finance and Administration for the The Rutgers Graduate School of Education (GSE). The Senior Director for Finance and Administration is the chief financial officer and the senior advisor to the Dean regarding all fiscal and administrative matters as well as mission program development issues. With a dual reporting relationship to the Dean of the Graduate School of Education and to the Vice Chancellor for Finance, the Senior Director will serve as the principal business officer responsible for the planning, organizing, evaluating, and monitoring of financial functions to ensure that the academic and administration needs of the school are being met in a manner that delivers value and transparency to the GSE faculty and staff while demonstrating the highest commitment to diversity and equity.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Oversees strategic and tactical operations for multi-million dollar responsibility centered management budget of a U.S. News and World Report top ranked school of education that serves over 90 faculty, 50 staff, and more than 1400 students.
  • Manages a team of 9 direct and indirect reports to develop, implement and create a customer-focused approach to business, human resources and technology services. Incumbent provides guidance and support to the Dean, Department Chairs, Center, Institutes, and Program Directors, Senior Administrators and Senior Staff to ensure consistent and sound management; adherence to University policies and procedures; federal and state compliance in human resources; financial management; facilities management and information technology services.
  • Serves as a decision maker and problem solver regarding GSE HR, finance, facilities, and technology administrative issues.
  • Must be an entrepreneurial leader with a collaborative vision for the importance of finance, personnel and administrative operations in achieving institutional excellence.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of seven years of experience and proven success in financial management and planning, technology management, human resources management, facilities management, and strategic planning – preferably in a higher education setting.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Exceptional oral communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with grants and contracts administration and responsibility center management. Experience with Microsoft Office suite, Tableau, Smartview, Peoplesoft preferred.
  • Experience in higher education and familiarity with New Jersey K-12 schools preferred.

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
