Summary

The new Robotics Department is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our growing team as an Undergraduate Advisor. The U-M Robotics Undergraduate Program has been formed for innovation, building on the foundation of U-M Engineering and furthering the spirit of “Robotics with Respect.” As an Undergraduate Advisor you will further our mission to provide the best possible learning environment for a diverse body of enthusiastic young scholars. This position will work closely with undergraduate students and will regularly interact with a dedicated and friendly community of Robotics faculty and staff.

Responsibilities*

You will:

• Provide undergraduate programs advising, educate instructional faculty and students on course curriculum requirements, track and advise departmental leadership on major declarations and maintain historical records

• Provide department student administrative support, participate in departmental student services meetings and activities, contribute to communications and events for undergraduate award process, and advising activities

• Provide student support, Interface with CAPS, EAC, CRLT, and ECRC, connect students with multiple services including health and wellness support, follow up on student progress reports

• Represent the Robotics department at major/minor fairs, undergraduate events, and recruitment activities

Required Qualifications*

  • Associates Degree or equivalent in education and experience
  • 2 years of experience in education or university administration
  • Training or experience in best practices for student advising, counceling, or guidance
  • Ability to exercise sensitively when working with our diverse group of students, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to handle confidential material and situations
