Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The University of Maryland Counseling Center Research Unit produces a variety of research briefs, publishes articles in professional journals, and presents study findings at conferences and to the University campus community. Areas of Research include: Student development & retention; clinical service delivery; college students’ basic needs (food & housing security), academic success, and well-being; and multiculturalism, inclusiveness, & action research.
Essential duties/responsibilities:

- Works with the Research Director to develop research questions and choose appropriate research methodologies.
- Manages data from cross-sectional, mixed-methods (quantitative and qualitative), and longitudinal research.
- Contributes to the designs of methodological tools for producing high-quality research.
- Provides methodological support to the Research Director.
- Manages data entry, coding, and analyses to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
- Conducts analyses using NVivo, SPSS, Mplus, R, or other statistical software.
- Reviews and organizes relevant literature.
- Works with the team to prepare grant proposals, research reports, conference proposals/presentations, and articles for publication.
- Works with the team to disseminate research findings for broadening research impacts.
- Supervises the Research Unit’s research analyst and assistants during the Research Director’s absence.
- When needed, participates in Counseling Center or VPSA committees and activities as assigned.
- Carries out other duties as assigned by the Research Director.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Doctoral degree in counseling, psychology, counselor education, statistics and measurement, quantitative methodology, survey methodology, public health, human development, higher education, student affairs, or a related field.
Experience:

Experience:
Experiences with writing reports or manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals, including conducting a strong and ethically compliant literature review.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Proficiency with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, Mplus, R, HLM).
- Demonstrated organizational and excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Strong attention to detail.
Preferences:

- Experience with large or qualitative data sets.
- Experience with Tableau software.
