Summary of Position

Under the supervision of the Associate Athletic Director for Academic Support, this position provides comprehensive support services for intercollegiate student-athletes through mentoring, counseling and providing proactive monitoring to student-athletes. The Assistant Athletic Director, Academic Support Services Coordinator must be able to interpret student-athlete needs and academic progress and provide individualized service. This position requires interaction with coaching staffs ensuring they are kept apprised of any issues regarding members of their team. This individual will be responsible for monitoring study hall as well as conducting study skill workshops. This position will also be an integral part of the recruiting process by meeting with recruits regarding academics and/or student-athlete development programs. The position will have a focus on career development with student-athletes.

Other minimum qualifications

Full-time experience working within a Division I athletic department. Familiarity with NCAA Division I eligibility rules and regulations. Excellent communication skills. Experience with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in related field. The ability to communicate clearly in both written and verbal form and to work in a fast-paced environment. A positive collegial attitude and sense of humor.

Duty/Responsibility

Provide direct support to assigned student athletes and coaching staffs. Assist current student-athletes with academic progress monitoring their degree progression and overseeing their course selections as well as monitoring their classroom performance with periodic progress reports and other communications with professors. Assist coaches in their efforts to recruit new students by providing timely and sound academic advice and information on available support services. Keep coaches informed about student-athlete progress. Monitor study hall.

Duty/Responsibility

Coordinate all student-athlete tutor requests. To include recruiting, hiring and training all hires. Monitor and oversee tutors and ensure all student-athlete tutoring needs are met. Approves tutor time sheets and ensures all is in order with payroll.

Assist as needed in department career development efforts such as social media, engaging student-athletes with University Career development efforts, developing workshops and actively recruiting guest speakers.

Duty/Responsibility

Ensure all student-athletes on book scholarships receive required materials. Coordinate with compliance office and student development to monitor pickups and returns.

Assist with special projects and special events when needed. This includes, but is not limited to, luncheons, banquets, speaking engagements, etc
