Position Summary

The Director of Faculty Professional Development and Senior Instructional Designer is responsible for oversight of the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). The Director builds enthusiasm for participation in CTL program offerings that support new initiatives and the strategic goals of the college. Through programming and communication, he/she shares new and emerging information that advances best practices in teaching, course transformation designed to foster inclusive pedagogy, student engagement, and improve equitable student learning outcomes. The Director will promote the effective use of technology in the classroom and online and quality course design. Additionally, the Director works to support faculty professional development, and academic organizational development in line with the college’s strategic initiatives.

Minimum Requirements


1. Masters degree or higher
2. At least five years experience teaching in a higher education setting using learning management systems and instructional technology
3. At least five years experience designing courses and developing curriculum for multiple course modalities
4. Evidence of ongoing professional development in online pedagogy
5. Experience leading, facilitating, or coordinating faculty professional development

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

The employee must be able to move about 2/3 of the time and be stationary about 1/3 of the time. S/he is required to be mobile around campus for participant involvement/activities.
S/he must be able to converse with individuals on a regular basis with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret their needs via phone conversations, face-to-face conversations, or written documentation.

Work Schedule

  • Normal schedule is M-F, 8am-5pm, but occasional weekends and evenings may be necessary
  • Additional hours may be required to accommodate presentations, deadlines, meeting schedules, etc.
