With its broad and multidisciplinary faculty expertise, the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute (EOHSI) is an international resource that supports basic and clinical research in environmental health sciences and exposure assessment and fosters associated programs in environmental health education and public policy.
Established in 1986, EOHSI’s major objectives are to:
Advance understanding of the mechanisms by which environmental and occupational chemical exposures impact human health.
Identify and measure human environmental and occupational exposures to chemicals. Treat populations adversely affected by chemical exposures. Develop educational tools describing relative risks of chemical exposures. Contribute to public policies related to environmental and occupational chemical risks. Offer training programs for environmental health professionals.
The Institute serves as an unbiased source of expertise about environmental problems for communities, employers and governments in all areas of occupational and environmental health, toxicology and risk assessment. EOHSI members are active as advisors to international, national, state and local organizations on public health issues.

Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Psychology Intern for the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute (EOHSI). The intern will perform psychological intakes, interviews, and case management services; conduct weekly trauma-focused individual psychotherapy; and facilitate outpatient mental health groups. In addition, there are several psychotherapy and support groups that are conducted including but not limited to 9/11 first responder cancer support groups, health & wellness, couples/family workshops, CBT & Mindfulness training, and Process groups. The intern will receive supervision from a highly trained Clinical Psychologist with a background in integrative psychology that combines psychodynamic-psychoanalytic, insight-oriented treatment with psychobiological health.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Conducts clinical screens of WTC first responder patients under supervision.
  • Provides individual and group clinical services under supervision.
  • Recommends and provides appropriate referrals for service,as needed. to external mental health providers.
  • Participates in recruitment of external mental health providers.
  • Documents clinical encounters and maintains records in accordance with HIPAA and state and federal regulations.
  • Performs data entry as needed.
  • Conduct program development and evaluation projects as assigned.

  • Currently enrolled in PsyD program at Rutgers GSAPP.
Certifications/Licenses

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word / Excel).
Preferred Qualifications
  • PsyM preferred.
