Position Summary
The Physics Department at Central Michigan University (CMU) is seeking an outstanding candidate for a postdoctoral position in the area of electronic structure theory development. The successful candidates will work with Professors Koblar A. Jackson and Juan E. Peralta, contributing to an exciting, large-scale effort to remove self-interaction errors from density functional theory using the Fermi-Löwdin orbital self-interaction correction (FLO-SIC) approach. The work will have a strong focus on FORTRAN code development and will involve collaborating with researchers at Temple University and the University of Texas at El Paso.
Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related discipline and a background in electronic structure theory earned within the last six years.
  • Experience in FORTRAN programming.
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will have experience working on high-performance computing platforms.

About the Department
The CMU Physics Department offers B.S., B.S. in Ed., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in physics and participates in the interdisciplinary Ph.D. in the Science of Advanced Materials. The Department houses active research programs in several areas, including computational condensed matter and chemical physics and experimental condensed matter and materials physics.
