Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, is seeking applicants for One (1) Spatial Econometrics Postdoctoral position in The Sinquefield Center for Applied Economic Research Starting July 1, 2023.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to pursue high quality scholarship and collaborate with faculty in economics, finance, and other disciplines across campus to conduct research in areas related to urban economics, regional economics, transportation economics, economic development, economics of education, or public policy. This will involve data preparation and cleaning, spatial econometric data analysis and related programming, co-authorship of scholarly research papers.

Through the newly established Taylor Geospatial Institute, Saint Louis University is currently building an ambitious research agenda in Geospatial Science. The Sinquefield Center for Applied Economic Research (SCAER) is an integral partner in this university-wide strategic plan. Researchers associated with the Center are making extensive use of large spatial datasets for economic, business, and public policy research.

We are recruiting a postdoctoral fellow with research interest in applied microeconomics and spatial econometrics. The Postdoctoral Fellow will be expected to pursue high quality scholarship and collaborate with faculty in economics, finance, and other disciplines across campus to conduct research in areas related to urban economics, regional economics, transportation economics, economic development, economics of education, or public policy.

Applicants must demonstrate their research potential as evidenced by research papers and a promising research agenda. A successful candidate is expected to possess strong spatial econometric and related programming skills. It is highly desirable that the candidate has experience in analyzing big data and programming languages such as Python or R. Knowledge of modern statistical techniques such as machine learning and spatial data visualization software ArcGIS is also desirable.
