Position Description


Advertised Job Summary
Designed to attract, support, and retain scholars from groups historically underrepresented in their departments or fields, this “Bridge to Faculty” postdoctoral position in the Department of Psychology is part of a new and exciting initiative at the University of South Carolina (USC). The purpose of the Bridge to Faculty Program is to recruit early-career scholars who, if successful during the post-doctoral period, may have the opportunity to transition to tenure track faculty at USC starting in the 2025-2026 academic year.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have a PhD in Psychology, Psychological Sciences, Neuroscience, or a related field from an accredited institution by August 15, 2023.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
The successful candidate will have a PhD in Psychology, Psychological Sciences, Neuroscience, or an area relevant to neuroscience or psychological sciences. We anticipate that the candidate will work closely with 1-2 primary research mentor/s to accelerate transdisciplinary efforts in basic, clinical, and/or intervention research in neuroscience and/or health equity and will meet regularly with other advisors and mentors within the department and across the university to gain professional development skills. This individual should aspire to become an independent researcher and productive faculty member at an R1-level university. The successful candidate must be committed to teaching and mentoring diverse students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The selection committee welcomes applications from candidates who contribute to increasing diversity in their fields, as historically underrepresented persons in higher education, and/or by pursing scholarship that contributes to understanding issues of diversity, equity, inclusion, past or present.
