Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Department of Kinesiology, School of Public Health, University of Maryland, College Park seeks a 100% time (12 month) non-tenure track faculty member (Assistant Clinical Professor) to direct all administrative, instructional, and practicum-related aspects of the Master of Public Health (MPH) in Physical Activity, along with some fiscal duties. The candidate should be able to: (1) manage the operations of the program (scheduling, recruitment, etc.), (2) teach, mentor, and supervise students; and (3) provide relevant service to the department, university, and profession. The successful candidate will have the option of working remotely (100%).

The successful candidate will oversee all administrative, instructional, and practicum-related activities for the new online MPH in Physical Activity Program, along with some fiscal duties, including but not limited to: marketing of program and recruitment of prospective students; oversight and management of the application process; course development and instruction; placement, coordination, and oversight of MPH student practicums; oversight of capstone projects; liaison between students and graduate school and registrar’s office; student advising (e.g., assisting students with course planning and registration, career advising); managing the program handbooks, forms, and Canvas site, as well as other course scheduling; attend relevant departmental meetings (virtual option provided if needed).

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in Kinesiology or related field with a demonstrated expertise in public health practice as it relates to physical activity.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to teach a graduate level mixed-methods course and develop a relevant elective (e.g., exercise and brain health, theory of health behavior, adaptive physical activity) is required.

Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to collaboration, cultural competence and community engagement.

  • Demonstrated excellence in public health practice, administration, and teaching/mentoring.
