Unit Description:
The Office of Student Conduct is responsible for operationalizing every aspect of the student conduct process. In their roles, staff members from the Office of Student Conduct educate the community about the University’s behavioral expectations for students. Staff members resolve cases of alleged academic and non-academic misconduct, and impose sanctions designed to change student behavior, improve opportunities for academic success, and contribute to a safe campus community.
Essential Job Duties
The primary purpose of the Assistant Director of Student Conduct position is to actively participate in the overall management of the student conduct process. The staff member in this position will serve as one of the hearing officers in the Office of Student Conduct and will review and make decisions in student conduct cases to determine if the student or student organization violated the Code of Student Conduct, and if so, what the resulting sanctions should be.
The Assistant Director will act as a co-advisor of the Conduct Board, focusing on the supervision and guidance of the board members. The Conduct Boards, a group of approximately 25 individuals, including faculty, staff, and students responsible for reviewing and resolving both academic and non-academic misconduct cases that may lead to suspension or expulsion from the university. The Assistant Director will also engage in the training and selection of board members, assessment, educational program development, and delivery for students and faculty members.
The Assistant Director will advise faculty members as they seek to resolve charges of academic misconduct. They will further meet with and advise students regarding their rights and responsibilities within the conduct process. They will conduct both disciplinary conferences and administrative hearings and impose sanctions based on case analysis and case precedent.
The Assistant Director will assist in the management of the Office’s Title IX/DHR caseload by serving as an Advisor for Complainants or Respondents. This staff member will work independently to support Complainants or Respondents and assist them with presenting relevant information before the hearing officer.
The Assistant Director will assist with the outreach efforts for the office, including presentations and outreach events designed to educate the University community about the Code of Student Conduct.

Minimum Education and Experience
Require post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelor’s degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience may be substituted for the advanced degree on an exceptional basis.
Other Required Qualifications
- Working knowledge of best practices in the conduct field;
- Demonstrated knowledge of Title IX requirements
- Confidentiality as defined by FERPA;
- Experience with diverse populations;
- Strong ethical foundations;
- Ability to establish collaborative relationships with campus and community partners..
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Counseling, or other Student Affairs related field, and at least one (1) year of experience in a conducting role preferred.
- Experience in a University conduct position and demonstrated high-quality communications skills are strongly preferred.
