Job Description

This admissions recruiter is responsible for a specific portion of Jackson State’s 14-county service area, planning events for that area, actively recruiting, tracking, and assisting the prospective students in the area (traditional and non-traditional), increasing Jackson State’s presence, and supporting the goals and efforts of the college.

Job Duties

20% - • Recruit students for specified target markets including, but not limited to, the college’s 10 county service area schools, industries, communities and other student populations and serve as the point of contact for assigned schools. - (Essential)
5% - • Recruit for the dual/joint enrollment program with high school students for assigned territory. - (Essential)
10% - • Provide initial counseling to prospective student and applicants as well as track assigned applicants from application to registration, and assist with all steps in the process as needed. - (Essential)
10% - • Utilize CRM software to ensure applicants are receiving needed communication from the college while providing follow-up data on events and visits. - (Marginal)
10% - • Serve as resource for varied campus operations and functions; serve as liaison between admissions department and other departments and organizations. Represent the college in professional organizations. - (Marginal)
15% - • Assist with all admissions functions, including application processing, as needed. - (Essential)
15% - • Perform other duties as assigned by the vice president of student services, director of admissions, or recruitment coordinator. - (Marginal)
10% - • Work with recruitment coordinator to perform comprehensive inquiry and application follow-up functions. - (Essential)
5% - • Serve on college committees and assist with other functions as assigned. - (Marginal)

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in related area or Associates Degree with two to three years related experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and to travel throughout 10-county service area.
  • Adequate data entry skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous work experience in college recruitment or student services environments.
  • Knowledge of TBR policies.
  • Previous marketing/public relations experience.
  • Previous work experience in a high-traffic client service environment.
  • Experience with the BANNER computer system or CRM software.

  • Outstanding interpersonal communication skills including strong written and verbal skills.
  • Demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated follow-up and follow-through ability.
  • Commitment to community college education; strong desire to assist community college students.
  • Proven team player with initiative.
  • Proven adaptability skills as well as ability and willingness to perform multiple tasks.
  • The ability to work independently with limited guidance; self-starter.

Pay Rate: $39,297 - $49,121 Annual salary depending on eligible experience which is defined by the current compensation plan.
