Associate Director of Admissions
Job Description
The Enrollment Management division provides prospective and continuing students opportunities for success through a variety of informational and enrollment services. Enrollment Services are provided on a continuous basis from the time of the individual’s formal entry to Virginia Peninsula Community College, through graduation and beyond. The division supports the instructional programs of the College through transfer credit evaluation, graduation clearance, annual calendar planning, enrollment reporting, and registration. The division also maintains regulatory requirements pertaining to database maintenance, application processing, domicile determination, and academic records management. Through its recruitment and admission services, the department supports educational outreach efforts and promotes the College as a viable education resource in the community, in the workplace, and in the minds of potential students. Finally, the Enrollment Management division provides leadership and/or serves as an important resource to committees across campus and works closely with the Information Technology department to implement and maintain the student information contained within the VCCS Student Information Systems.
To effectively serve as a leader in Enrollment Management, offering an exceptional level of student services to new and continuing students by assisting with all aspects of their enrollment process from admission to graduation. This position ensures compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures in place for the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and Virginia Peninsula Community College (VPCC). Primary emphasis and work duties include providing leadership and participating in the recruitment, outreach, and admission process of prospective and new students.
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public relations, education, administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Event planning and management skills.
- Progressively responsible experience in higher education, preferably in an admission, recruiting, advising/counseling, or enrollment services environment.
- Experience working with student information systems (e.g. PeopleSoft, Banner, Colleague), and/or customer relation management (CRM) systems.
- Valid Virginia Driver’s license and approval required by the College’s liability insurance carrier
- Demonstrated ability in building and managing relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of team.
- Extensive customer service skills and demonstrated ability to problem solve, work in a fast-paced environment, handle stressful situations, and work with diverse populations.
- Ability to handle confidential information.
- Ability to travel within service area for recruitment purposes.
- Ability to work evening and weekends, as needed.
- Effectively market College academic, technical, and workforce programs.
- Interpret and apply College policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and organizational skills.
- Computer skills with an emphasis on Student Information Systems, CRM, spreadsheet, and database software.
- Master’s degree in education, administration, or a related field.
- Considerable knowledge of Admission Office functions and operations.
- Supervisory experience.
- Considerable experience with customer relation management tools, Navigate, PeopleSoft .
