Purpose

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a postdoctoral research associate to begin work starting August 2023. The right candidate will both demonstrate previous research--and commit to continued research--that contributes to scholarship in one or more of the following domains: marriage, family, sexual relationships and reproductive decisions, and the technology and cultural shifts that affect these. This would occur both in consultation with Regnerus and other social science faculty affiliated with the Population Research Center.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare articles for publication in scientific journals and presentations at academic conferences

  • Write scientific manuscripts

  • Manage multiple research projects in the domain of family and relationship behavior

  • Collaborate with fellow researchers as part of a project team

  • Develop independent research initiatives for the future

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in economics, sociology, statistics, psychology, human development, or a related field, received no more than three years prior to start date.

  • Experience with statistical programs Stata or R

  • Experience conducting analyses in domains related to marriage, family, sexual relationships and reproductive decisions, and technology and cultural shifts that affect these topics is optimal

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills; and

  • Strong interpersonal and logistical coordination skills

  • Strong statistical background

  • Experience managing and analyzing large datasets

  • The ability to balance several projects

Salary Range

  • $54,000 annually

Retirement Plan Eligibility:

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
