Postdoctoral fellow - Stem cell biololgy
Job Description
We are looking for highly motivated and independent postdoctoral fellow to join our team in the laboratory of Dr. Qiao Joe Zhou at Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University in New York City.
Our laboratory studies cell fate determination and cell fate engineering of pancreatic islets and intestinal stem cells. We are developing a technology to differentiate stomach biopsy-derived human gastric stem cells into functional gastric insulin-secreting (GINS) organoids as a cell therapy to treat type 1 diabetes (T1D) and advanced T2D. With the recent progress (https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2022.12.15.520488v1 ), we are pursuing projects including (1) advancing GINS organoid technology toward clinics, (2) developing in vivo GINS induction method as a gene therapy for diabetes, (3) understanding interactions between immune cells and GINS cells and creating autoimmune-resistant GINS organoids. We employ a diverse array of technologies including human stem cell culture, CRISPR-CAS9, synthetic biology, mouse genetic models, epigenetic profiling, single-cell sequencing, and transplantation.
The candidate should have a PhD or MD degree, a minimum of three years of laboratory experience, and at least one first-author publication that demonstrates proficiency in research. He/she should have rigorous training in at least one of the following fields: stem cell biology, development, molecular biology, physiology, immunology, biochemistry, genetics, or bioengineering.
