Organizational Unit Overview
The Office of Research, Economic Development and Engagement (REDE) is responsible for research policy and integrity, research administration and sponsored project contract negotiations across ECU and it leads economic and community engagement initiatives including partnerships with public sector agencies, industry, military, and other organizations in pursuit of scholarly activities, economic development, and community engagement. The Office directs new intellectual enterprises, including technology transfer. REDE is responsible for the following units under its umbrella: Office of Engaged Research, Office of Continuing and Professional Education, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, Office of Human Subjects Protections, Office of Licensing and Commercialization, Office of National Security and Industry Initiatives, Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, Office of Regional Development, Office of Research Administration, Office of Research Development, Office of Research Integrity and Compliance, Office of Undergraduate Research, the Small Business and Technology Development Center and Compliance Monitoring and Strategic Initiatives.
Job Duties
The primary purpose of this position is to provide support for administrative, financial, and human resource functions within REDE. The person in this position must have knowledge of the office, university, UNC, and NC fiscal policies and procedures and must have the ability to apply this knowledge in the performance of daily/routine duties and be able to interpret and explain this information to internal and external stakeholders in a professional manner. The individual in this position must have the ability to work independently with interruptions and the ability to handle multiple tasks with close attention to detail and accuracy. Duties for this position will include, but not be limited to:
· Managing purchasing and invoice payments
· Processing contract renewals for systems supported by REDE
· Managing spending for the units in REDE which includes state funds, institutional trust funds, foundation funds and grants funds
· Reviewing time and effort for grant funds in REDE
· Reconciling unit budgets monthly
· Serving as administrator for the Startup Award program
· Preparing cash transfers, budget transfers, budget loads, journal entries, direct pay forms, mass time entries, contractual services payment forms, dual employment forms, payroll redistributions and GURFEEDs
· Processing Letter of Credit (LOC) draws for the Office of Research Administration
· Processing daily deposits for the Office of Continuing & Professional Education and Lifelong Learning Program
· Preparing quarterly and annual A/R reports for the Office of Continuing & Professional Education and Lifelong Learning Program
· Serving as Kronos SuperAdmin
· Preparing PeopleAdmin position modifications, posting requests, and hiring proposals
· Preparing Personnel Change Forms (PCFs) and Electronic Personnel Action Forms (EPAFs)
· Processing termination forms and leave payouts
· Serving as approver for PORT requisitions and student EPAFs
· Other duties as assigned
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
License or Certification required by statute or regulation

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Experience utilizing ECU’s financial and human resource systems such as Banner, Chrome River, ecuBIC, PeopleAdmin, and PORT. Two (2) or more years of finance and human resources experience. Working knowledge of university and state financial policies and procedures. Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact respectfully with all individuals in a diverse environment.
