Organizational Unit Overview | The Office of Research, Economic Development and Engagement (REDE) is responsible for research policy and integrity, research administration and sponsored project contract negotiations across ECU and it leads economic and community engagement initiatives including partnerships with public sector agencies, industry, military, and other organizations in pursuit of scholarly activities, economic development, and community engagement. The Office directs new intellectual enterprises, including technology transfer. REDE is responsible for the following units under its umbrella: Office of Engaged Research, Office of Continuing and Professional Education, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee, Office of Human Subjects Protections, Office of Licensing and Commercialization, Office of National Security and Industry Initiatives, Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, Office of Regional Development, Office of Research Administration, Office of Research Development, Office of Research Integrity and Compliance, Office of Undergraduate Research, the Small Business and Technology Development Center and Compliance Monitoring and Strategic Initiatives. |
Job Duties | This position will work across REDE and report directly to the assistant vice chancellor for economic and community engagement. The primary responsibility of this position is to consult and administer complex strategic projects for programs supported by the Offices of Community Engagement and Research, National Security and Industry Initiatives, Research and Innovation Campus, and Continuing and Professional Education. The ability to leverage expertise across these offices and to build inter-related and collaborative programming is important. Expertise in project management is critical for this role. The position independently communicates directly with community and industry partners to conduct research and evaluations, manage projects, and design policies, procedures, and programs to meet constituent needs. The position will provide logistical support, database management, financial reports and budget projections, and identify policies and practices within the university relevant for each program or project. Programs and projects will be funded through a variety of sources including grants, philanthropy, fee-for-service, and state budgets. This staff position will contribute to marketing and delivery of programs. Some after-hours, evening, and/or weekend work may be required. |
Minimum Education/Experience | Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
License or Certification required by statute or regulation | None |
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education | Master’s degree in business or public administration. Experience with program evaluation and project management. Excellent program coordination and management, communication, and human relations skills preferred. Strongly prefer experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Teams, and Outlook), and familiarity with ECU systems including Banner, PORT, ECUBic, PiratePort, and Live25. |
