Senior Associate Director, Special Events

NYU's Stern School of Business has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Associate Director in the Office of Special Events. The Senior Associate Director will plan, develop, and manage all aspects of special events that meet strategic goals of the School. The selected candidate will direct office operations in the absence of and/or in tandem with the Director, share event planning acumen and institutional knowledge with other staff members, and handle complex projects and assignments that require substantive job knowledge. They will act as a liaison between the Special Events Department and other Departments, Centers, and Program Areas to conceptualize themes, research requests, assess feasibility, make recommendations, and implement events. The Senior Associate Director will also offer events-related technical and systems support, conduct budget administration, negotiate with vendors and venues, coordinate catering, secure space, arrange room setups, and more.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years relevant experience or equivalent combination. Must include experience with special events planning, site selection, theme development, menu planning, and vendor negotiations; staff supervision; and budget management. The selected candidate will have strong customer service skills including excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong project management skills, the ability to solve problems in real time and juggle numerous demands in the moment, and attention to detail are also required. A proven ability to be highly creative and develop new ideas for clients that reinforce strategic priorities for the School is also essential.
