Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Program Development Specialist for the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. This position reports to the Associate Dean/Director and assists in the retention and graduation of students enrolled in the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) Program at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Develops and implements strategies to increase the retention rate of students in the EOF program and underrepresented population.
  • Responsible for individual counseling, monitoring student academic progress, tutoring and teaching skills with a particular emphasis in the sciences.
  • Advises and informs the Associate Dean/Director on issues pertaining to the academic progress of EOF students.
  • Works in conjunction with the other program staff and the Associate Dean/Director on all facets of student retention, professional development and academic progress.
  • Provides one-on-one learning assistance by preparing personalized student plans as well as designing and implementing workshops that will enhance the academic & collegiate learning strategies in a rigorous and comprehensive program such as Pharmacy.
  • Works closely with other units and divisions as appropriate to enhance student learning and retention.
  • Participates in university and college recruitment efforts through college fairs, recruitment fairs, high school visits and other recruitment events and activities as required.
  • Provides regular updates and reports on student retention as required.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver’s license would be required for this position.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work with diverse population.
  • Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to handle multiple responsibilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in relevant fields preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the STEM fields as well as work with educationally and economically disadvantaged students.
Equipment Utilized
  • Web based programming, quantitative & qualitative data analysis tools, national foundation directory networks and Microsoft Office.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Special Conditions
  • This position requires travel to attend meetings (as required and necessary) and for recruitment events and programs as well as for professional development activities.
  • Must be willing to travel, when necessary, to sites throughout New Jersey for business demands.
  • Clean driving record.

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
