Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Data Analyst (Data Management and Sharing Curator) in Information Systems and Technology at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey
In collaboration with the Institute’s Researchers and Investigators and under direction of IST leadership/management, the Data Analyst plans, organizes, and coordinates activities related to a data management and sharing of scientific data.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Maintains knowledge of current NIH Data Management and Sharing Policies and requirements of the various public repositories for scientific data.
  • Develops algorithms, scripts and computer programs to facilitate data curation and transformation to ensure compliance with NIH Data Management and Sharing Policies.
  • Integrates knowledge and understanding of SQL and relational databases to develop the products to facilitate data analysis.
  • Works in collaboration with an inter-disciplinary team of staff, researchers and physicians to understand project specifications and steps required to meet data sharing and submission requirements.
  • Maintains tracking systems for submission timelines and requirements for assigned NIH funded studies and projects.
  • Provides reports on compliance by assigned NIH funded studies and projects in regards to submission of data in accordance with NIH Policies.
  • Understands and abides by guidelines for accessing and protecting PHI.
  • Maintains comprehensive knowledge of University and Department’s policies and procedures.
  • Develops and submits administrative plans and devises implementation and control procedures which will ensure administrative and technology services are delivered in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Prepares reports containing findings, analysis, conclusion and recommendations, as requested

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in health-related field, Information Systems/Management, Computer Science or Data Analytics or related field, plus three (3) years of progressively more responsible administrative, analytic or similar experience.
  • Must have experience working with data analytics and machine-learning technologies in a research environment.
  • Experience with appropriate ETL tools and processes.
  • Equivalent experience, education and/or training demonstrating the ability to perform the essential duties of the position may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Expected to work independently as well as part of a cross-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent communications skills and be willing to work closely with both clinical and research faculty.
  • Responsibilities include developing and maintaining algorithms, develops scripts to automate aggregation, transmission and storage of imaging, genomic and clinical data; and provide technical support as it relates to ongoing computational medicine and informatics programs and initiatives.
  • It is expected that this individual keep abreast of new technologies and computer methods going forward.
  • Effective oral and communication skills.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree.
  • Experience in data modeling, SQL and relational databases.

Immunization Requirements
