Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Locksmith Technician I for the department of Identity & Access Management within Institutional Planning & Operations.
Under the supervision of the Locksmith Supervisor, the Locksmith Technician I installs, repairs and maintains commercial security access equipment. Inputs data in access control software for installation and troubleshooting purposes.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Operates access control, CCTV and alarm systems software.
  • Inputs data into the access control, CCTV and alarm systems software that activates the programming.
  • Installs security equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains security equipment.
  • Provides training, guidance and assistance to end users or operators of the system.
  • Performs mechanical locksmith duties when and/or if necessary.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in access control, installation, and maintenance.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic locksmith skills.
  • Proven problem solving, decision making, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of access control, CCTV and alarm system an asset.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking and hearing. No special vision requirements. Lifting up to 25lbs.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT; Office environment. Moderate noise.
Special Conditions
  • Must pass a police background investigation.

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption.
