Postdoctoral Research Associate Position in Respiratory Research at HMR building

A newly established laboratory of Dr. Dongshi Chen is recruiting a Postdoc. Dr. Chen’s lab is interesting in studying the signal pathway of cell death and its role and functional mechanism in cigarette smoking induced lung inflammation, progression of COPD, as well as lung tumorigenesis. The position is for qualified candidates who wish to pursue a career in the basic and translational research of COPD, lung cancer, lung infection, and diseases. 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Plans, designs, and conducts highly technical and complex research projects independently.
  • Conducting cellular and molecular experiments for hypothesis-driven research
  • Preparing presentations and publishing scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator
  • Responsible for teaching techniques to other lab members
  • Serves as a project liaison between the lab and their collaborators. 
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

The annual range for this position is $64,480 - $70,000. Preferred Qualifications

A Ph.D. in biomedical sciences or related disciplines is required. Previous training and experiences in the following research areas are preferred: 1) experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, pathology, cancer biology; 2) mechanistic studies of metabolic pathways regulating mitochondrial function; 3) mechanistic studies of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); 4) experience in working with animal models (mouse and/or rat) is desirable but not necessary; 5) experience in bioinformatics will be an add-on but not necessary.
