The Department of Biomedical Sciences (https://med.und.edu/biomedical-sciences/index.html ) at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences (http://www.med.und.edu ) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. Individuals whose research program focuses on the interface of the host-pathogen interaction, e.g. microbial and/or immunological focused, are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will join a group of faculty performing multi-disiplinary research in immunology, microbiology, neuroscience, and epigenerics of health and disease. Preference will be given to candidates whose resedarch has the potential of becoming a full research project for the ongoing NIH Center of Biomedical Research Excellence (CoBRE) in Host-Pathogen Interactions, currently in Phase II focusing on viral, bacterial and parasitic disease conditions. The Department boasts state-of-the art core facilities and research resources developed and supported by three CoBRE grants wsork approximately $50 million over a period of 20 years. The University of North Daktoa is located in Grand Forks, a family-friendly community with excellent public schools and many cultural, recreational and sporting activities. Further information on the local area can be found at http://www.grandforksgov.com .

Applicants must have a Ph.D., or MD/Ph.D. degree, postdoctoral experience and documented research producitivity in the relevant area of research. Department faculty are expected to maintain a vigorous, extramurally funded research program and contribute to the teaching and service mission of the Department and the School.

Position: Assistant Professor

Renumberation/Salary: $95,000+/year; Commensurate with qualifications and experience.

This position is a twelve (12) month, tenure track appointment with the University of North Dakota (UND) School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS), Department of Biomedical Sciences.

• Develop an independent, extramurally funded research program complementing the current strengths in the Department including host-pathogen interactions, inflammation and immunity.
• Establish interdisciplinary collaborations with other faculty members in the Department, the SMHS, and UND.
• Actively seek grant funding from external agencies for individual and collaborative projects.
• Maintain a productive extramurally funded research program commensurate with rank.
• Participate/teach medical studetns in a nationally recognized patient-centered learning medical school curriculum.
• Teach and advise graduate students in the Department’s integrated biomedical sciences graduate program that offers M.S., Ph.D. and M.D./Ph.D degrees.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of curriculum for the M.S., Ph.D., and M.D. programs.
• Actively participate in the service missions of the Department, the SMHS, UND, and their profession.
• Contribute to written progress reports and other documents as needed by the Department.
• Must be able to communicate effectively.
