Salary:  $52,704 to Commensurate, comply with NIH/UI standards

Full/Part Time Status: Full Time

Percent Time: 100%

Position Description: A postdoctoral position is immediately available in the laboratory of Zizhen Kang Ph.D. in the Department of Pathology, University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine. Our laboratory is interested in the immunobiology of LRRK2 gene, specifically the roles of LRRK2 in  innate immunity. By using genetically modified animal models and cutting-edge technology, we aim to reveal the underlying immunological mechanisms of LRRK2-mediated signaling in health and disease, thus provide new therapeutic strategies for LRRK2-associated diseases such as infectious disease, inflammatory bowel disease and Parkinson’s disease etc. Applicants should have a strong background in molecular biology or immunology, as well as experience in animal models and biochemistry. The selected candidate will be expected to work independently while interacting in a collaborative environment.

Education Requirement: PhD, MD/PhD or MD with significant bench research experience.

Required Qualifications: Excellent writing and communication skills in English. Experience working with mice. Research experience in immunology.

Desirable Qualifications: Proficient in molecular biology techniques including CRISPR/Cas technology. Experience in cellular biochemistry, especially cellular signaling pathways.
