Summary

The MiChart (Epic) support team at Michigan Medicine seeks an Application Coordinator to develop, support and maintain Epic Ambulatory functionality and workflows.  On the MiChart EpicCare Ambulatory team, this role specifically supports and maintains the EpicCare Ambulatory application, including reporting functionality and workflows.

This position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the MiChart (Epic) environment, interfacing with the clinical and administrative teams and understanding their workflows, translating requests into specifications, and building out these workflows in the MiChart (Epic) system.  The selected candidate will work very independently with oversight and having at least one Epic certification is preferred.

Division Summary

Health Information Technology and Serviced (HITS) plays an integral role in the success of Michigan Medicine by providing clinicians, researchers, students, and staff with exceptional IT products, services, and support. The Ambulatory team maintains specific aspects of the MiChart (Epic) application for the Ambulatory Workflows to support the mission of Michigan Medicine.

Responsibilities*

The Application Coordinator responsibilities include:

  • Under minimal supervision, coordinate the life cycle of a change (design, build, test, educate, communicate).
  • Work with users to document current workflow processes and collaborate with users in identifying, defining and documenting process improvement options and alternatives.
  • Analyze business workflow and system needs for new features and enhancements.
  • Present concepts in a concise and focused manner, including narrative or process diagrams to facilitate understanding.
  • Encourage development of training and testing plans to ensure design meets the defined requirements.
  • Provide support and triage incidents and issues related to application.
  • Participate in software upgrade projects of varying complexity. Including review of release documentation, analysis of new functionality to determine how it is used.
  • Work within defined timelines.
  • Understanding of data warehousing and data management in a healthcare environment.
  • Facilitate analysis of problem to solve and develop solution options.
  • Prioritize and implement requested changes to the system.
  • Work with internal (MiChart/HITS) and external teams (Epic) on integrated issues and configuration.
  • Mentor less experienced business systems analysts.
  • Comply with internal procedures to use in conjunction with Epic applications.
  • Maintain complete Analysis/requirement/build documentation in ServiceNow.
  • Take on call responsibilities as assigned by manager.

Required Qualifications*

Requirements for Senior Level:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years' experience in healthcare or related field.

Requirements for Intermediate Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3-5 years' experience in healthcare or related field

Desired Qualifications*

  • Certification or proficiency in an Epic application (EpicCare Ambulatory)
  • Business Analysis and workflow experience
  • Core Competencies. Skills and characteristics of a successful Application Coordinator include the following:
    • The ability to lead meetings, prioritize work, resolve conflicts, and manage a project plan
    • Strong communication and follow-up skills
    • Strong problem analysis skills

This position is being made available with the ability to work remote/on-site options to suit your work-life balance. Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings.  Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
