Position Highlights The Department of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time Research Professional I to work in Dr. Rafikov's research lab to help determine transcriptomics changes at the single cell level in the lungs. The incumbent will be responsible for performing basic research focused on pulmonary hypertension studies, including capillary cells analysis and evaluation of endothelial dysfunction. They will also assist with bio-informatics analysis for heart and immune cells.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Design, organize, manage and carry out bio-informatics analysis to drive the PI's research.
  • Work with senior researchers to evaluate and contribute to the design and organization of research methods, collect and analyze data, interpret results, create databases for research purposes, and identify and recommend solutions to problems. 
  • Maintain research/experimental data in laboratory notebook, write summary reports, and report findings to the investigator.
  • Carry out specialized techniques including single cell transcriptomics analysis.
  • Collect samples and coordinate with companies and service cores for RNA sequencing.
  • Use analyzed data to prepare research reports, write literature reviews, and support development of grant applications.
  • Provide guidance and support to PhD students and postdoctoral fellows on the topic of single cell transcriptomics data.
  • Organize databases, data analysis and reports.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of lab principles, theories and concepts on single cell transcriptomics.   
  • Skills in evaluation and interpretation, problem solving, analysis, creativity and communication.   
  • Ability to establish polices and procedures, interpret data and follow detailed instructions.     
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required. 
  • One (1) year of relevant work experience is required.
