This person in this position will plan, execute, and manage research projects investigating cognitive and brain basis of social processes in psychiatric disorders (e.g., psychosis, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, autism-spectrum disorders) directed by Dr. Ivy Tso in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Health. The person will oversee multiple research projects involving clinical research subjects and neuroimaging methods; participate in the development and implementation of research protocols, recruitment & assessment strategies, and experimental and analytical methodologies; lead hiring, training, and supervision of junior research staff; coordinate laboratory activities and work assignments of postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and research staff; handle higher-level administrative tasks such as staff onboarding/offboarding and performance evaluation; oversee compliance with institutional and federal regulatory policies. Responsibilities may also include: setting up and organizing clinical assessment tools and training resources; providing support to evaluate and handle clinical emergencies; maintaining integrity of data collection, storage, and processing systems; overseeing and coordinating periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment; maintaining study records; assisting in the preparation of research reports and scientific presentations at national and international conferences and workshops; assisting principal investigator in the preparation of proposals to obtain new or renewal of extramural funding in support of research; and performing additional duties as assigned. This is intended to be a long-term position and not a temporary steppingstone to graduate school.

Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Neuroscience or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, is required. 4-5 years of research experience involving human subjects and/or neuroimaging methods is required. Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic and/or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required. Strong interpersonal skills are required, and experience in managing and supervising staff and students is highly valued. Training and experience in psychiatric clinical assessments is preferred, but not required. Solid computer skills and efficient use of research-specific software and databases (e.g., RedCap) are required, preferably with skills in managing large, complex datasets. Experience in managing complex research protocols is preferred. Strong self-motivation and adaptability in order to meet goals and deadlines of the project. The ability to problem-solve, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines. Flexibility in working hours is often required, depending on the scheduling needs of research participants, including weekends and evenings. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
