IT Adjunct Professor
Job Description
Washington University of Science and Technology is looking for adjunct faculty to teach Information Technology, Web Design, Software Engineering, Database, Networking, and Cyber Security.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher in Information Technology (or related field)
- Four years or more work experience in IT (or related field)
- Experience teaching at the post-secondary level
- Maintain any certifications necessary to satisfy requirements in the discipline
Preferred Qualifications In addition to the qualifications listed for each position, the ideal candidate will show evidence of:
- Experience with and ability to employ a variety of appropriate IT lab tools in teaching
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching
- Experience teaching in an online or hybrid environment
- Excellence teaching and facilitating the learning process for students, learning and using new technology, and applying diverse instructional strategies in response to using new technology, and applying diverse instructional strategies in response to learner demographics and learning styles
- Belief in the value of working and learning in a diverse environment.
- Excellent oral, written and communication skills
- Being a successful advocate for new initiatives in curriculum or delivery
- Understanding and embracing the mission of IGlobal University
- Capability to teach in more than one discipline
- Possessing the energy and persistence to motivate and support others to pursue the larger goal
- Being skilled in building strategic alliances both within and across disciplines, and within and outside the University.
Instructional Duties
- Responsible for effectively preparing, teaching, grading, and assessing student learning in courses assigned.
- Create and model a quality learning environment to support a diverse student population including students with disabilities or special learning needs.
- Maintain student records and provide documentation for incompletes within established University timelines. Utilize a variety of technology-based programs to access and input information related to student records and college/school/department processes.
- Assist students with registration, advising, and graduation processes
- Structure classes and curriculum to correspond with program and course outcomes.
- Prepare, distribute and utilize instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media and other devices as appropriate.
- Convene classes as scheduled and respond to student inquiries.
- Attend in-service sessions, college/school/ department meetings, graduation and convocation as required. Performs other related duties as assigned.
