Technical Lead Faculty - Artificial Intelligence

Job Description

Community College of Beaver County is seeking a qualified individual to integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) through STEM applications across its curriculum. The position is housed in the School of Business, Arts, Sciences, and Technology, but will work in partnership with numerous other departments and schools across the college to integrate AI/ML into various disciplines. The position is designed to create a leading-edge learning environment for community college students to support high technology industries seeking trained operators and technicians. We seek a faculty hire who will catalyze interdisciplinary collaboration, support growth with external funding, and enrich our associate level students’ experience. The successful candidate will play an integral role in establishing an AI/ML culture of teaching and engagement activities while enabling close connection and collaboration between the Community College of Beaver County and partnering organizations.

The successful candidate will:

  • Serve as Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator for a $1.7 M Build Back Better federal grant that has been awarded to the College.
  • Contribute to the school’s impact across Pennsylvania via initiatives in economic development, social entrepreneurship, outreach, and other engagement strategies.
  • Lead the development of AI/ML projects and high-impact practices across the curriculum to enhance learning and align with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with faculty to provide innovative classroom experiences in multiple disciplines as well as teach AI/ML focused courses (approximately 2 courses per semester).
  • Develop/identify AI/ML professional development opportunities for faculty to assist in the successful integration and maintenance of such opportunities in various areas/programs.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of a STEM AI Lab that will serve as an interdisciplinary computing hub for faculty, staff, industry, state, academic, and community partners.
  • Mentor/advise students.
  • Further develop internship opportunities for students at CCBC.
  • Assist with advisory board development.

This is a full-time faculty position with primary teaching responsibility within an Artificial Intelligence Program and includes the possibility of teaching some courses in the High School Academy.

Faculty are members of the PSEA/NEA Society of Faculty union. The position will also involve administrative duties.

  • Collaborate with the Dean of Business, Arts, and Sciences to enhance technology programs.
  • Collaborate with the Dean of Industrial Technology and Continuing Education to enhance industrial technology programs.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean of High School Academies and Dual Enrollment, and respective high school academy champion to effectively implement the High School Academy teaching model.
  • Advise students.
  • Assist in recruiting and retaining students.
  • Assist other faculty to update technical programming at the College.
  • Collaborate with four-year educational partners, businesses, and industry.
  • Participate in various college and departmental duties, including committee membership and leadership.
  • Support student success by creating an optimum learning environment.
  • Respond to student needs.
  • Develop, revise, and assess courses and programs.
  • Demonstrate and maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community.
  • Support college administrative requirements.
  • Maintain competency in the field.
  • Demonstrate interest and participation in the total affairs of the college, including student, business, and community activities and completion of strategic initiatives.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
Required:

  • Master’s degree or other terminal degree in a suitable discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability, experience, and record of scholarship appropriate to carry out the functions of the position.

Preferred:

  • Post-secondary teaching experience.
  • Corporate data science or AI experience.
  • Expressed interest in interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, or transdisciplinary research.
