Position Summary

Fordham DevOps Apps team is looking for a creative full-stack developer to join our small, high-performing team. This role offers the right candidate the opportunity to contribute to effective operations within DevOps and a wide variety of opportunities to work on unique projects, developing POCs, requiring out-of-the-box thinking.

The selected candidate will have the desire and ability to work in a small collaborative team to achieve organizational goals while building an innovative culture. The DevOps Apps Web team members work independently, own their projects, and collaborate as a team. The scope of work encompasses several websites (WordPress, DXP), with a focus on Angular JS.

Essential Functions

  • Is hands-on in programming as needed.
  • Demonstrates strong technical skills, specifically with architectural and development patterns
  • Participates in the overall architecture, design, and technical oversight of complex business initiatives
  • Writes clean, efficient, and maintainable code
  • Assists in developing applicable methodologies, tools, approaches, points of view, thought leadership, and accelerators
  • Interfaces with the executive team to define requirements, recommends solutions and ultimately implements per cost, scope, and schedule
  • Provides advisory support on complex tasks and project supervision
  • Designs and owns component architecture, development, and deployment, incorporating leading practices for a portfolio
  • Works with the communications team and Executive leadership to develop a strategic roadmap and feature releases
  • Maintains awareness of federal/government compliance issues (i.e., Section 508)
  • Articulates alternatives in terms of cost, benefit, and risk where multiple solutions exist and propose technical project plans
  • Performs technical quality assurance audits
  • Collaborates with the communications team through all phases of the technology lifecycle, including requirements definition, architecture design, and conversion and testing both internally and client-facing
  • Develops long-term relationships and networks both internally and externally
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of industry-wide technology trends and best practices

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field or 7+ years of solid programming experience.
  • 5-8 years of relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of technical, business, and cultural environment of higher education in general and Fordham in particular
  • Advanced knowledge of application, data, and infrastructure architecture disciplines
  • Understanding of architecture and design across all systems
  • Proven analytical, diagnostic, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated understanding of Fordham’s culture and environment, as well as the technical, business, and cultural environment of higher education in general
  • Prior industry experience preferred
  • Web fundamentals – HTML, JavaScript, and CSS
  • Front-end (CSS) frameworks like Foundation or Bootstrap
  • Front-end web design (UI/UX)
  • JavaScript frameworks like Angular, React, Ember etc.,
  • NodeJS, PHP Laravel, WordPress, Python
  • MySQL, Oracle
  • Experience with cPanel Webhost Manager (WHM)
  • API design and development
  • Knowledge of AWS and Azure Cloud
  • Git & GitHub or GitLab
  • DevOps & CI/CD pipelines

Minimum Starting Salary: $87,500

Maximum Starting Salary: $109,000

Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
