Post Doctoral Associate

Job Description

The Logan Laboratory is seeking a Postdoctoral fellow to begin immediately at University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School. The primary focus of the laboratory is investigating the role of sleep and circadian rhythms in psychiatric disorders. Our group uses an array of genetic, molecular, and behavioral tools to study the neurobiology of sleep and circadian rhythms in the vulnerability to and progression of mood and substance use disorders. Funded, ongoing projects include the use of both human tissues and rodent models of stress and addiction behaviors. Fellows will be responsible for developing new projects using multi-disciplinary approaches (e.g., multi-omics, in vivo gene targeting, fiber photometry, optogeneteics, and drug self-administration). The candidate will also be trained to integrate data generated from these assays across both human (e.g., postmortem brain) and animal models. Current projects investigate the biology of substance use disorders, depression, and other psychiatric disorders, with the opportunity to expand into new research areas of disease. The opportunity will foster career growth towards academia or industry roles, while contributing to a rewarding area of research. The fellowship will be tailored to the career goals of the candidate. Salary commensurate with NIH postdoctoral fellowship scale, with opportunities for additional compensation based on relevant experience and sign on bonus.

Applicants with backgrounds, experience in any of the approaches listed above are encouraged to apply. Candidates with a strong background in translational neuroscience, behavioral neuroscience, and/or computational biology are strongly encouraged to apply too.

Qualifications

  • PhD in computer science, bioinformatics, computational biology, neuroscience, or related field.
  • Preferred, but not required, experience in rodent surgery, rodent behavior, and molecular biology
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize efforts across multiple projects, work collaboratively with technicians, graduate students, other postdoctoral fellows, and senior researchers.
