Position Qualification
Position Summary | A post-doctoral fellow position is available in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The research focuses mainly on the regulatory role of the peripheral nervous system in peripheral tissues (such as myocardium and skeletal muscle) in pathophysiological conditions including heart failure, diabetes, ischemia-reperfusion injury, and peripheral artery disease, supported by NIH funding. Applicant must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in Medicine/Physiology or related field. The successful applicant will be expected to master molecular biological methods (such as Western blots, real-time RT-PCR, epigenetics, transcriptomics, single-cell RNAseq and proteomics, and flow cytometry), immunohistochemical staining, and some electrophysiological techniques and animal procedures. He/she will be involved in the design of experimental protocols; collection, analysis and interpretation of data; preparation of oral and written scientific reports, such as presentation of results at local, state, and national meetings; composition of scientific manuscripts for submission to journals and writing grant applications; and interdepartmental seminars, journal clubs and local and national scientific societies. The applicant will also be expected to incorporate his/her previous skills and knowledge into the evolution of experimental designs, methodology, data interpretations and pursuit of scientific goals. Previous experience performing in cardiovascular and neurophysiological experiments is preferred. |
