Summary of Position

Manage applied research projects as a member of the Institute for Health Policy and Practice to support the creation of new knowledge to be used to improve population health and the health care delivery system. A strong understanding and commitment of diversity and equity in the workplace environment and with the implementation of projects. This is accomplished by facilitating conversations between internal and external project team members and contracted resources and overseeing progress toward deliverables with contracted resources. The position includes direct contact with clients and funders of the projects, identifying business needs in detail; analyzing and synthesizing research data and results; recommending solutions where required; providing direct consultation and training resources to clients, and reporting and publishing results. The position is responsible for training new project team staff in areas of the project as needed. This position will support report and publication development as needed.

Duty/Responsibility

Participate in and plan meetings of management, internal and external project teams and committees to ensure that project work plans are adhered to, and ensure the project remains on schedule and program objectives are achieved.
Maintain an overall project plan for the relevant IHPP focal area projects; and provide project workplan and updates to IHPP, external partners, and funders.

Duty/Responsibility

Confer with faculty/staff members and/or external partners, to identify concepts and questions that can be addressed by appropriate research methods and collecting of descriptive data, qualitative data, summaries, white papers, and the like.

Duty/Responsibility

Work with campus (e.g., academic departments and Institutes) and external project partners (such as State and local health agencies), as required, to define business needs for project, and develop procedures and protocols and provide information and consultation to support project needs.

Duty/Responsibility

Document project results in the form of written periodic reports to support reports to funders and project publications (white papers, policy documents, etc.), professional reports for publication, including peer-reviewed journals; and attend various meetings, workshops and symposia, and present results of research as appropriate.

Conduct background studies of needed research, including the review of research methods and findings in peer-reviewed publications, secondary data analysis results review, and review of previous work of synthesis of best practices in data collection or dissemination.
