Job Description


The Materials Science Division of Argonne National Laboratory is seeking applicants for an Assistant Physicist in the area of theoretical condensed matter physics. Current interests in the group are in the areas of strongly correlated electron materials, low dimensional many-body and non-equilibrium systems, and topological matter including non-collinear magnets, spin liquids, and superconductors. A particular focus is on computational approaches to these topics, including machine learning.

Position Requirements

  • A strong theoretical background in condensed matter physics is necessary, particularly in the areas of many body physics, mesoscopics, superconductors and topological properties of materials

  • Candidates are expected to have a PhD in a relevant subject area along with several years of postdoctoral experience

  • Work independently and conduct research in a highly interdisciplinary environment, where interaction with experimentalists is also encouraged
