Overview

RESEARCH TECHNICIAN position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Kimberly Stegmaier at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT. Our research focuses on the application of chemical and functional genomic approaches to cancer therapy discovery with the ultimate goals of 1) improving understanding of the basic biology of cancer and 2) translating bench discovery to clinical care. You will join a team of investigators leading these efforts in the academic environment, working at the bench, collaborating closely with scientists across the institutes. You will play an essential role in project-focused work.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct bench level experiments to support the goals of scientific research in cancer and genomics
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment to complete investigations
  • Prepare, order, and maintain stocks of necessary reagents, solutions and supplies
  • Document, compile, and analyze experimental data
  • Report data in oral and written formats
  • Maintain and improve technical knowledge base
  • Participate in team meetings for experimental planning
  • Participate in prominent cancer meetings at the DFCI and Broad Institute

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Biology or related field required, or equivalent combination of education and experience (recent graduates encouraged)
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and principles of molecular biology
  • Experience working in a medical or scientific research setting or comparable technology-oriented business environment
  • Knowledge of computers and experience with databases
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to handle a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment required
